OpenCode Session Editor — User guide

1. Features and requirements

Browse OpenCode conversations and edit User input text and Assistant Answer or Thinking text. Windows 11 (64-bit/x64) is supported. Install OpenCode separately and make it available as a command. Required runtimes, including .NET, are bundled; no additional runtime installation is needed for this app.

The interface supports Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Select a language at the top of the window; it is retained for the next launch. The guide and terms are available in Japanese and English.

2. First launch

  1. Extract the entire ZIP to a writable location.
  2. Double-click OpenCode Session Editor.exe at the top level.
  3. Use the reference-folder picker to select a project folder you use with OpenCode.

Windows may display an unknown-publisher warning because the app is unsigned. Verify the source before running it. Keep the app folder with the executable; it contains required files.

3. Find and read conversations

Select a session on the left to see its messages in the middle. Use the search boxes to filter results and drag column boundaries to adjust their widths. Switch between Answer and Thinking using the tabs on the right. Refreshing or searching does not change conversation content.

4. Edit and apply changes

  1. Select User input text, or an Assistant Answer or Thinking part.
  2. Edit the text on the right. Your input is saved as a draft on your PC.
  3. Choose the overwrite action and check the target in the confirmation dialog before applying it.

Overwriting is stopped if OpenCode is generating a response, the content was changed elsewhere, or another required check fails. Follow the on-screen guidance and check the latest content. Missing text or Thinking parts and attachments cannot be added or edited. Editing User input does not automatically regenerate later answers.

Discarding a local edit cancels an unsubmitted draft. Restoring a saved version returns the selected part to its content before the first overwrite in a series. Restoration also requires confirmation. Saved versions cover the selected part, not an entire conversation.

5. Storage and exit

Settings, drafts and saved restore copies are stored in Data beside the executable. Successfully saved drafts remain after restarting. If saving fails, keep a separate copy of any text you need before closing.

Close the window to exit. OpenCode Servers started by this app are also stopped; separately started servers are left running. Data from earlier versions is not migrated automatically. See privacy information for details.

6. Updates, moving and removal

Get updates through your purchase channel. There is no automatic updater. To retain saved data, close the app, back up Data, and follow the update’s instructions.

To move the app, close it and move the entire folder. Close it before removal as well. Deleting Data removes drafts and saved versions but does not undo text already written to OpenCode.
